WHO WE ARE
Caribbean culture in its full richness.
JAM Roots Entertainment LLC creates spaces where Caribbean music and culture can be experienced in its full richness—across Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and throughout the wider diaspora.
The company is new. The work is not. Long before JAM Roots had an official name, founder Mel—also known as Oshira—was building relationships, connecting people, coordinating opportunities, and bringing artists, producers, venues, and community partners into conversation.
Today, JAM Roots gives that work an official home. We connect the right people and help coordinate what comes next—from introductions and communication to scheduling, planning, promotion, and live event development.
One blood 🩸 One sun ☀️ One love 🫶🏼
FOUNDER'S STORY
Mel’s legacy in motion.
JAM Roots began while founder Mel—also known as Oshira—was rebuilding her life and creating safety for herself and her children after leaving an abusive relationship. Reggae, Rastafari principles, shared meals, and Caribbean community became part of that healing and the foundation of a larger purpose: creating honest connection through music and culture.
JAM carries the names of Jaycie, Arielle, and Marleyah. It represents the legacy Mel is building for her children—one rooted in resilience, love, culture, and opportunity.
